Party Games Guide: 7 Free Random Tools to Liven Up Any Party

Want to make your next get-together more fun and memorable? The tools on Pick4Us make it easy to break the ice and get everyone playing. This guide covers practical party games with 7 of them, from classics to newer ideas, so there is something for every kind of gathering. Every forfeit here is light and optional, so all ages can join in.

Before the party

Before the games start, a little preparation helps:

Classic party games

Spin Bottle: truth or dare

Players: 4–8 (the tool supports 2–8 players)

How to play:

  1. Everyone sits in a circle
  2. Enter each person’s name in Spin Bottle (no duplicate names)
  3. Spin the bottle and see who it points to
  4. That player chooses truth or dare. Tap “Truth” or “Dare” for a built-in prompt; if it doesn’t suit, tap again for a different one, or skip it
  5. Once they’ve answered or done the dare, start the next round

Variation: Agree that anyone picked twice in a row gets to choose who answers the next question. It keeps everyone involved. For more prompts, see our truth or dare guide.

Don’t Click the Bomb: a light forfeit game

Players: 2–8 (in “Take turns” mode)

How to play:

  1. Sit together and agree on a list of light forfeits
  2. Open Don’t Click the Bomb: one of the 16 squares hides a bomb (its position is fixed when the round starts)
  3. Go clockwise, each person tapping one square, or use “Take turns” mode, where the screen shows whose turn it is
  4. Whoever hits the bomb does a light forfeit (for example, perform a short party trick or answer a question), or skips it
  5. Start a new round
Host tip: Prepare a few different kinds of forfeits, from silly to slightly daring, and let whoever hits the bomb pick one. Anyone who doesn’t want to do one can skip.

Spin Wheel: team challenges

Players: any number

How to play:

  1. Come up with some fun team challenges (sing a song together, play charades, act out an improvised sketch, and so on)
  2. Add the challenges to the Spin Wheel
  3. Each spin picks the next challenge (in “Draw without replacement” mode, nothing comes up twice)
  4. The whole group, or a chosen team, completes the challenge
  5. Add a reward if you like: a small prize for the best performance

Creative interactive games

Card Picker: drawing lots for teams

Use it when: you need to form teams or decide an order

How to play:

  1. In the Card Picker, set the number of cards to match the number of players (2–20 cards)
  2. Each person turns over one card
  3. Use the numbers to form teams or set the order (for example, cards 1–4 are team one and 5–8 are team two)
  4. It’s fair and avoids arguments about who gets put where

If you only need a playing order, use “Player draw” mode (2–8 players; the lowest number goes first).

Magic 8 Ball: questions and answers

Players: any number

How to play:

  1. Take turns asking the Magic 8 Ball a yes-or-no question
  2. Keep the questions light and silly, and don’t put anyone on the spot
  3. Tap or shake the ball for a mysterious answer (shaking has to be switched on first)
  4. Talk about the answer or act on it

Example questions: “Should we keep playing tonight?” “Will I win the next round?” “Will we all get together like this again next year?” The ball’s 20 answers (10 positive, 5 non-committal, 5 negative) are completely random and just for fun.

  4. Round two (45 minutes): form teams with the Card Picker and compete in team challenges
  5. Wind-down (20 minutes): Magic 8 Ball questions to end the night on a fun note
